a REALITY mental illness and gun control

I know this is a hip-hop blog but in reality the tragedy that happened in sandy hook elementary school effects all aspects of life. As a farther of 3 and as someone who has asbergers syndrome I've taken offense as of late of all the talk of mental health getting stricter. I wanna put into context not as a expert on autism but as a sane parent who HAS asbergers if thats the only mental illness the shooter had it had no effect on the tragedy that happened. Asbergers is a mild form of autism and in all reality you couldn't even tell most people who have it. In my case the only problem i have is starting a conversation with someone i don't know to well. Does that make me psychotic no, and honestly if i don't tell you thats a issue with me you'll never know cus if u actually wanted to associate with me you would of spoke. Dan akroyd, Craig nicoles (the vines), daryl Hannah, satoshi tagari (creator of pokemon), Dennis Rodman, The real faces of asbergers. celebrities we see and here about every day living normal lives. Asbergers wasn't a given diagnosis until the early 1990's but based of historic information Abraham Lincoln. ben franklin, Emily Dickinson, George Washington, Marilyn Monroe, mark twain, van goh and Mozart all had traits that today would be classified as asbergers. So before you put a label on a disease because one sick minded human been had it look at all the good that people in are history with mental illness has done. On a different tip people need to understand mental illness allot more and start treating people with mental illness as people instead of outsiders. Im not giving a scapegoat to mass murder but in most cases it has been loners who have been tired of getting ridiculed and rejected and take it out on society, If we treated these people with love compassion and all fairness some of this could been avoided. You see lawyers on crime shows trying to say someones environment used as a defense and people with certain views being held just as accountable. Were pointing are finger at mental illness but the people who constantly torture people with mental illness shouldn't they be just as at fault if they provoked them to the point of snapping. Like i said in the sandy hook case unless more details emerge on his mental health just based off asbergers alone mental health had no effect on this. Also in a wider aspect anyone who lives in the Lehigh valley has noticed a spike in murders. How many of those murders are do to mental illness none its substance abuse and gang violence. Theres a more of a change of a high ranking mobster killing kids for revenge then someone with mental illness doing this again. Lets go to point to all the talk on gun control in America. Just because a mass shooting of 20 kids happens we wanna talk about it and say lets enforce it not. You know on a daily probably more than 20 kids are murderd do to some sort of violence but because it wasn't in a mass shooting gun laws aren't even talked about. shit last year 80 CHILDREN WERE SLAUGHTERED in Norway shouldn't that have been a wake up call what if this happened in America lets take measures now. Sad to say most Americans only thing about America. talks are going on though about only allowing military and cops have access to guns yet again theres almost daily talks of military people killing civilians overseas, in my local paper a off duty officer killed his wife and barricaded the streets of a small town, shooting countless other cops. guns laws wont stop that. In all sad reality there really isn't much we can do. Make guns illegal ok lets see whats already illegal drugs. Most violence is do to drugs the biggest legal issue we have in America is drugs yet again drugs are illegal. So making guns illegal this is a reality check a history lesson from prohibition times. Gun sales WILL GO INTO THE UNDERWORLD criminals will be getting richer AND PROBABLY NOT GETTING ARRESTED cus there pay off some 2nd amendment supporting cop not to file charges. and when Americans who actually use guns for protection cant buy them any more they will either have to go to the black market or be a victim. In a sad dark truth the murder rate may actually get higher with gun control, cus people wont be able to protect themselves. Now this is just my opinion but this is also what could be a sad reality.

Artist to watch: J Capitol P

The lehigh valley music scene has had alot of good emcees coming out of it but not much buzz outside of the lehigh valley. It was always said if there was a rapper the whole community can back then we would finally have a star out of the local scene. With such a divide with the underground cats and mainstream ready emcees it just seemed impossible that the scene would fall behind one emcee. Looking at online feed it seems theres a artist that has done that. Kunztown college allumini J Capitol Phas been slowly making his name known for the past 3-4 years. Not only has his buzz been growing his maturity and talent as a artist has been as well. This blog first covered him when his mixtape the image of me was released. He came off the typical egotistical rapper with bost like "ive been the talk of allentown for the past five years." looking back at that now he actually predicted his career path. His buzz first started with his weekly "trash a track tuesday" witch is a weekly freestyle series that has garned over 10 thousand plus views on youtube. Thats whats missing in artist nowadays is heart and the willingness to mature as e emcee witch jp has both. later on that year he released his first video for doing my thang witch landed him a levigh valley music award nomination for best song. it was a club style track that would be played on any local station but lyrically wasnt toned down to the mainstream standards of today. One would assume a artist with a radio ready style wouldnt be accepted by the whole community but with local cosigns coming from vets like l-perfex, and el chain plus the love on other blogs from da stash box to islm610 the whole area has come behind him. His newest video of his mixtape bad guys finish first send them my love has been reposted by a vareity of local emcees and fans alike and his up and coming album bundle up 2 is high anticipated in the area. One thing i gotta say is you gotta respect this kid for a younging he knows the way the industry works. I had asked him if he had any shows coming up and said he wanted his craft to grow more before touring with you gotta commend not wanting to have any half ass performance and actually look like a entertainer. I see big things in store for this up and coming emcee.

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SURVIVAL GUIDE PART 1

Nowadays everyone and there grandmother claims to be a "rapper" or another sort of musician, not only that 90% of there "emcees" are egotistical and honestly think there the next big thing. One issue with that musicians don't seem to realize there more than just talent that goes into securing a record deal. Especially if your aiming for a major deal lack of talent is sometimes a plus. Still everyone wants to break into the music industry but few have the intellect to do so. So I'm break it down for you. First off i know I'm have people asking how am i qualified to be writing a music industry survival guide. Ive been apart of the music industry in multiple senses since i was 17. When i was in a residential treatment program as a minor i was the resident dj for all party are facility had cus of my aray of music taste. Two years later i started making beats and producing. I was a intern for Atlanta based sky management ran by Aaron martel and ronald Browser (ron g) that has worked with big industry names like beanie man, mase dmx and other big name hip-hop artist. Ive been a street team member for artist like nems, iron solomon, donny goines king magnetic, and more, plus my 7 years as a hip-hop blogger. so i know how both the artist and the label heads work. first off is CREATING A BUZZ FOR YOURSELF One common misperception most inspiring artist have come to think is that social media is going to help you get noticed and secure a deal. Countless artist thinking there big time emcees cus they have 3000 Facebook friends or twitter followers or 100 downloads of there mixtape. How many of those "friends" have actually commented on your music after listing and how many are actually awaiting new releases from you. Probably none if few, and this may not be because your a horrible artist its because EVERY MUSICIAN NOWADAYS TAKES the social media promoting route and people get so over flooded with acts WANTING THERE FRIENDS "to check out the hottest thing your ever here" its gets to the point people don't wanna check you out anymore because there tired of the everyday bugging. If you look in the mainstream industry now how many of the new major artist have u actually head of before they got famous. There not dropping mixtape after mixtape single after single begging fans to take a listen. There either A: dropping one buzz-worthy hot single on youtube that becomes a national sensation without little to no buzz or mix-tapes before hand or B: there hitting the streets the a and r's the label heads, the people WHO ACTUALLY WILL GIVE A LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC. Look at reality. Lets look at the careers of a few select artist. the BLOGGERS FAVORITES Alot of emcees get caught up in this false sense of fame and eventually make it no where. The emcees with blogs take a liking to. There artist have 30'000 twitter followers bout the same amount of mixtape downloads enough buzz to make a blurb in a national pressed magazine witch means a ands r's and label heads should no who u are right? Sad reality its wrong and even if your buzzed on a national level statistics show your most likely stay in the underground mixtape scene. Now alot of artist will prefer this, but theres also the emcee who is striving for the millions of dollars and fans. Lets look at some of the major "BUZZING ARTIST" that have or will most likely fall in the shuffle of new comers daily and never secure the fame they strive for. Chris webby Statistically showing your think there kid already had made it. His mixtape king of the burbs was the first mixtape to shutdown datpiffs servers because of amount of mixtape downloads. He's had songs on mtv rotation has videos with over a million youtube views and national touring. Still no major label backing and its not because he doesn't want it. Most indie artist are bombarded with record deals but deny it for creative freedom on webbys's hand each new mixtape he makes is more suited for todays mainstream market. Its not because hes white either that he hasn't got a deal in the industry now its like every label wants a white emcee, diddys got mgk, macklemore had the #2 album int he country yelawolfs signed major. The reason why i think he hasn't got a deal is for the fact hes trying to hard to fit in the industry witch is what ALOT of inspiring emcees seem to do nowadays. Unless you completely sell out and either become a electronic dance artist claiming to be a rapper or spit elementary rhymes while claiming to be a gangster the industry is looking for original. Then theres the artist who overnight becomes a house hold name ands its most likely cus there hitting industry circles instead of the Facebook circles. before drake and nicki minaj got big they werent buzzing on any radars they just seem to overnight become stars. Thats because they probably werent wasting there time bombarding the streets with mix-tapes and videos they were hitting industry insiders for there big break. Speaking of artist like drake and nicki minaj you'd have to have a strong emotional state. These two are probably the most critically bashed emcees in the game right now yet again you never see them crying and throwing hissy fits because a critic told them there iq has dropped after listing to super-base or best i ever had. You didn't see rick ross or plies making derogatory statements about the people at smoking guns who accused them of being 100% fake. You didn't see images of the writers of smoking guns stating there sex offenders offenders or ect they kept on with there music. so heres my next point. LEARN TO TAKE CRITICISM In both my time as a blogger and a producer I've came across multiple artist who become immature and childish when negative criticism is given to them. This is because like i said most emcees are so EGOTISTICAL they actually believe there music is flawless. When i was still making beats i use to produce for this artist who actually truly believed he was the illest thing on the planet yet again 95% of his bars didn't rhyme and id actually tell him how to fix a bar here how to make this bar sound better and he'd become enrages and threaten me saying he don't need criticsism hes allready dope so i denied him the beats. Alot of producers take pride in the music they make and unless you sell the rights to the beat before hand are entitled to give there opinion on how the want a track finished. Most well respected producers even mainstream don't want there name associated with trashy music either non talented or unsellable. so if the producer is telling you to fix this here or add a line here LISTEN because all you know if he pulls the beat from your album someone else could make a name for themselves off something that could of been yours and your be kicking yourself in the ass in the morning. Also during my 7 year stint as a blogger if pissed off alot of artist for either a bad review or exposing falseness. Thats expected in my field of work like it was said best in the movie "almost famous"And I could be very dangerous to all of you! You should know that about me... I am *the enemy." No artist likes negative criticism or to be exposed as false but its how u handle the situation that will factor. No matter how talented you are no label wants there artist to act like a immature teenager not even there teenage artist. One huge example of what not to do when a critic pissed you off is something that happened to me. I had come across a group of emcees who were paying from blog placement and youtube views first i wasn't gunna say anything not worth my time then they accused another emcee of the same thin so i called them out. 2 hours later theres a picture of me online that stated that i raped my son and it became a local net meme. people just thinking it was a harmless joke. If you did something like that if you were a national known artist you'd be critiqued even more by the public and your label being told your insensitive and probably black listed. the proper way to deal with this is how another artist dealt with it after a article i posted about them being falsely affiliated with national acts. either contact the critic directly and though your manager and handle it like adults. the next point i wanna touch on if your looking for a label make sure it fits your style and make you u present yourself the way u want to be presented PRESENTATION TO THE LABEL HEADS First off make it clear on what you actually strive to be a emcee or a entertainer so you don't waste your time showing something to the label heads they don't want. If you wanna be taken seriously as a artist try to hit either indie labels or labels that have signed artist similar to your style so your not wasting your time at a label that will completely switch who you are. Take b.o.b for example even though he is still a mainstream success he was not creative control of his product. His first single when signed to alantic was suppose to be what become flo ridas right round but dropped the label to creative control. he still got want he wanted fame and a voice. Now if you wanna be a entertainer a clueless label puppet pitch your gimmick hook idias and track ideas instead of hounding the a and r with countless mixtape cus its not gunna matter what u sounded like before but what you sound like now. Show the industry managers live show films instead of your mixtape cus if you cant give a good live show you shouldn't be trying to become a national entertainer. alot of local acts i covered in my blog could not give a live show for shit but they wanna become the next big radio star. not gunna happen you need high energy performances and a out-there personality not just a catchy auto-tuned track that sounds like everyone else. Take this first few steps and adapt them to your career path and tomorrow I'm break down some more for u

gary clark black and blue ALBUM REVIEW

Ive had this sight down for over a year now. Over the two years i ran this sight it transformed from a blog to help all indie artist get regonized to a strictly localized hip-hop blog. When i turn on my radio and im thown back into 1970's its time for me to get back to my passion. Getting good music reconized. Deffintly music that has crossed genres. The first time i heard numb by gary clark jr was on a hip-hop sight 2dopeboyz, even though clarks more intune with jimmy hendix and the experience that cassie veggies and the other backpack rap that sight shows. Gary clark is a thowback to classic rock and blues. The first single numb's guitar rifts make u second guess if ur listing to 21 century music. From classic rock "numb" to thowback r and b jams "times are changing" to muddy watters style blues "messing around" blak and blu is a journey back in time to when music was good. I can honstely say this is the first time in ten years my favriote album of the year isnt a rap album

sunday night ryme session at mothers bar and grill REVIEW

Before i go into reviewing the actual show i gotta make a statement. Local artist always complain the lehigh valley doesn't show love to local hip-hop and bitch and complain thats there no local hip-hop gigs. If sunday night is any proof i say bluntly and remorsley that the biggest unsupporters are the artist themselves. There was a mild turnout and besides 2 exceptions the only artist to come out were the artist on the bill. If u want the valley to support local artist local artist SHOW SUPPORT TO YOUR FELLOW LOCAL ARTIST. That being said the show started off slowly. Close to a 2 hour delay do to artist being late. Thats another thing gigs for hip-hop acts are hard to get so when they come around dont slack off like your some pre-madonna superstar. Being late to a gig locally may cost u ever performing again. Big ups to dj zen one of the lehigh villians who held it down ith a aray of hip-hop tunes both new and old school to keep the crowd in tune till the show actually started. gotta say if it wasnt for dj zen one most local aritst wouldnt even know easton is on the map with hip-hop, but hes one of the only people getting gigs for local artist so show him some magor love. The show started off with easton based lehigh villians who showed a strong stage presence. Good comand of the mic and the audience. The only magor flaw was a distorted mic used by zen one witch made it hard to here his vocals. After his set there was a suprise performance by host godilla who was filling in for ed monsta who's wife just had a kid. Congrats homie. He held it down like a pure professional comanding the crowd during his performance. Its nice to see that on the local level artist still know the meaning of stage presence, and when it came to rocking the crowd one act subsided over the overs, allentown based h.u.r.t. They performed local hits g.r.i.n.d and cheers getting the crowd involved in each song on there set. Buying a round of drinks for the fans setting up a memorable finale when they performed cheers. Thats what makes a show memorable when a artist or group get the whole crowd involved. Personally the highlight of the night for me was philly native erk the jerk, who got the crowd wiled up with A FUCK U JERK chant leading into a verocious delivery of lyrical prowness. Getting in the face of crowd members and just putting on one hell of a performance. The show ended with a open mic freestyle session where big bam, godilla, and lokey7 ended the night in a old school cypher styled freestyle session. This is hoping to be the begining of a weekly ritual at mothers for this to happen we need support so get out and support ur fellow artist
