deffinition of a sellout

Over the course of the two years east coast underground central's been up ive shown a strong hatred for mainstream hip-hop along with complaining in reviews when people sound poppish, so people start to think im againsts making it in the rap game. Not true at all. What im againsts is the fact rappers think they have to be like everyone else and not stay true to themselves or the art. Theres so money hungry they seem to forget theres millions of rappers outhere doing the same thing your doing so how do you expect to be noticed. They actually think one big hit or contributing to the current fad of rap will get you millions. Maybe true but when the fad wheres out your gunna end up on the back of a milk carton with no one ever remembering who you are. What people seem to forget in the beginning of hip-hop critically acclaimed artist like de la soul, eric b and rakim, wu tang, public enememy, common have all charted on billboard and gone platinum. Looking at todays wanna be emcees soulja boy no platinum black d4l no platinum plaque mims no platinum black million singles sold yes but one single wont pay for the gold around your neck forever. And with the age of i-tunes one hit is 99 cents a peace no ones gunna by your album if you got only one or two good songs when there saving 8 bucks NOT BUYING YOUR ALBUM. Anyway selling out means forgetting who you were. Looking back at mixtapes from example drake at one point this dude could actually flow. he had collaborations with underground legends like little brother adn was a versatile emcee. Once cash money came around every track is autotuned about hoes and i doubt phontes sitting in a studio somewhere thinking why did i ever work with him in the first place. The only thing good from that collaboration people are youtubing little brother to see who they are to bad modern day hip-hop fans take one listen to the beat relise its not trach and click out of the video. The art of selling out has been around for ages and whats even worse sellouts are taking crazes that were once praised as uniue and inventive adn turning them into the worst thing hip-hops ever heard. take AUTOTUNING FOR EXAMPLE. A classic hip-hop track started the autotune craze, affrika bambata's planet rock. When that came out critics were praising the uniques and sound now critics vomit at the sound of autu-tune pre little wayne days. What you wack rappers are doing now it has been DONE BEFORE AND DONE WELL SO WHY CANT U GO BACK TO THAT AND WHY DONT YOU READ HISTORY BOOKS AND SEE LYRICAL ARTIST IN TH E90'S SOLD MORE THEN U EVER WILL

local hip-hop scene helps OCCUPY EASTON EXCLUSIVE

Unless your defdumb and blind everyone knows about the vast "occupy" movements that have been flooding a town near you. Starting in wallstreat and taken over almost ever town in America the "occupy" movement is a peaceful protest movement started to demand better use of government spending, the economic inequality, and the money hungry cor prate America who can give a fuck less about the poor broke homeless or struggling American dreamer. Today i went down there with local producer/dj lehigh villians artist dj zen one to occupy easton to talk and get a better understanding at what exactly is being demanded by these protest and help with the cause. One of the many people protesting is producer kooredub an easton native known for his production work with illoheem and other local heavyweights. When it was first announced i was a blogger another protest first grew weary. As kooredub explained to us theres been many attempts to make the "occupy" movement something that it isnt. An example brought to are attention was at the occupy wallstreat movement a Conservative blogger came down trying to sell drug and drug paraphernalia to the protesters trying to make them look like some dopes out hippies just trying to start a scene, but in reality the "occupy" movements are a peaceful demonstration trying to help better america. with a vast majority of America being middle or lower class anyway to help with the creation of jobs is needed. Its hard though when the upper society is trying to use are tax money to help fund political campaigns or protested being taxed more on money there probably never gunna. Another concern brought to are attention by a older protester was the lack of health care in america, its unaffordable to most and medicade only covers so much. Its got to the point where americans feel that they have to pay to live witch they have to do. One magor demand though is the seperation of money and politics. Election time is among us now and most of government spending is going towards thousands of government campaigns in witch 97 % are going to be failed attempts. In the state america is in now we cannot afford to waste money supporting higher class stingy citizens with are tax money. At the moment the occupy easton movement is only on the weekends but as kooredub stated are looking for a perminate place to occupy 24/7. koore stated that there first spot was the downtown circle witch isnt aloud since its county property not town. There at the moment hoping to occupy the now-defunct riverside bar and grille. This is a cause that hits me on a personal note that ive supported multiple times and is the 2nd such protest ive went to, after recently going to occupy bethlehem. Im keep posted on this story as it developes and EASTCOASTUNDERGROUND CENTRAL WILL KEEP U UPDATED ON THE LATEST FROM OCCUPY EASTON

producer showcase: DJ ZENONE

dj zenone is a rarity in so many aspects. One he's a producer who's spit game is exceptional as part of the lehigh villians. Hes one of the few dj's in the lehigh valley area who opens up oppurtunities for local emcees to perform. he still in the 80's with his instrement of choice the turntable and on tracks he laces you get a sense of 80's nastolgia when you here the turntables scratching. While he's lacing beats and mics hes on a constant grind only djign for nine months hes probally done twice as more shows as your favriote djing having blessed places such as riverside bar and grill, mars bar in pburg, boneyard in atlantic city. pitches and mgrady's in allentown. Currently working on his debute solo project as a emcee where hes lacing most of his own tracks. So if you havent heard of djzen one you will shortly

ALBUM REVIEW: TUG MCRAW LANGUAGE ARTS 3: THE SHEPARD IN WOLVES CLOTHING.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/tug-mcraw-presents-language/id471157954

Its only been a year since the release of his local classic language arts 2 that garnered praise from every critic and fan who listened to his lyrical journey that mapped out his personal struggles. Most wondered how he would follow up and if he could maintain another success amidst high expectations. The verdict is he exceeded expectations by far, and not only on a lyrical standpoint. Once the release of "serpent spine" featuring mani the nigitar who blessed the hooks we realised tug took a completely and shocking new approach to his music. THE MAINSTREAM. Instead of falling into the cliche of toning down his lyrics tug wanted to make a statement to all these young up and coming cats that a pure lyricism can still be found in a top twenty styled radio hit. Once this track came out the title of the album came to light as a clever metaphor "the Shepard in wolves clothing" meaning the lyricist in the world of mainstream debauchery. Once tha album actually came out tug has taken this concept to even higher levels. Yes most of this album consist of his usual styled tracks but its on tracks like the son v assisted track put it on me where tug shocks the most. Put it on me is the cliche hip-hop club track about trying to score with women that would get anyones body moving. Now if this was on mainstream radio this would be easly a top 20 hit and his lyrics easily overlooked instead its on the album of a east coast legend whos fans apricate true lyrical assaults, and listen to the track his use of multis and slcik wordplay hasnt toned down a notch. Like language arts 2 there isnt a track that id not give a second listen to on this effort. on the track what you want with numbia bear tugs gives one of his strongest lyrical assaults to date, but its his solo track surrender where tug shines the most asking wack rappers to surrender the crown. If anyone had any doubts about tug mcraw as a lyricist can stop now after following up a classic with another classic. Not as strong as language arts 2 but coming aufully close tug delivers unanomsly the lehigh valleys strongest lyrical album yet again.

next 2 blow: ASAP ROCKY

People say the days of wanting a magor label record deal are done but after asap rocky's 3 million dollar deal with sony underground artist may be switching there minds. Its not the money thats gunna switch the game for the better its the terms of the contract witch gives asap 100 percent creative rights and 100 percent OWNER SHIP OF ALL HIS MUSIC. Who exactly is this asap rocky though you may ask. Named after the god his rakim asap rocky was born for greatness. This harlem native at first listen may fall into the cliche of a harlem emcee, and most have claimed his ripping off"max b"s" style since hes a rapper who also has a melodic delivery and sings his own hook. Others say because most of his tracks talk about weed he's just another wiz khalifia or currency. Asap rocky is himself a versitle emcee that doesnt fit nor stay in one style of rap. His road to fame also started in a difrent direction from most. Taking tips out of skills handbook asap started getting a name for himself in nyc hip-hop circles as a ghostwriter. As a starving young artist though seing the buzz tracks he was penning was getting he decided to pick up the mic himself. His first video "purple swag" became a viral sensation that garned over 100 thousand views in its first weekend. His dedication to the late dj screw has proven this rapper is trully unique. Hailing from harlem but orginally from texas asap perfectly compines dirty south hip-hop with a gritty nyc sound, something that isnt scene alot in hip-hop (the fusion of cultures" After the success of purple swag "asap" came out with his critically aclaimed debut mixtape deep purple that has a gold certification on the mixtape sight datpiff. This young rapper is dedicated to the music and unlike most emcees now adays isn't only becoming a rapper to get out of the trap life. Stating in interviews that before his signing with sony he barley had 1000 dollars in his bank account this struggling dreamer has achieved what most emcees die for A SHOT. Looking at other blogs and youtube comments his buzz is growing quiker overnight so expect to here more next year from this budding emcee

END OF THE WEAK: WHERE HIP-HOP LIVES (nyc sect)

www.endoftheweak.ning.com

i found it hard to belive when nas said hip-hop was dead i found it even harder to believe that xxl said that nyc no longer a hotbed for ill lyricist, have they not heard not only does new york city have the largest and longest running open mic in the world it also spawned off other locations across the globe. Its not like end of the weak hasnt been in popular media either since b.e.t did a whole segment on iron solomon and webbified 2 of the most known artist to get there name out though this legendary weekly outing located on 101 and pyrimid avenue a in nyc. Its sad that even hip-hop publicications has forgotten how hip-hop was started, block partys, cyphers, battles and open mics.Yea there hasnt been a mainstream success since 50 sent out of nyc but when you think about it when were the legends like rakim, krs-one, kool g rap and even nas before the jay-z beef have mainstream exceptance. Where so overshadowed by ringtone rappers and autotune to even check out the local open mic for todays hottest talent. Since its incarceration in 2000 end of the weak has helped garner buzz for nycs nicest lyricist in the city where everyone wants to be a rapper. twelve years later the end of the weak movement has spread over 4 continents, nine countries and 22 cities across the world showing true lyricism still gets you places.

5 PHILLY EMCEES TO WATCH OUT FOR

Philadelphia has been one of the top breading grounds for some of raps top lyrcist. From hip-hop legends like the roots, will smith and beinie sigal to underground heavywieghts like jedi mind tricks, reef the lost cause, and the high and the mighty philly has proven time and time again that there emcees are one of the few not to sell out in the mainstream staying true to there routes (except for will smith who became one of the most known people alive". Some of the hometown heavywieghts recently have even gone to be successfull rappers. emcees such as meek mills spent 6 7 years on the philly scene grinding the streats before he got reconized. so heres a look at 5 emcees you should expect to here on the radio (mainstream or college) soon.

JAKK FROST

like meek mill jakk frost has been one of the most buzzed and most respected emcees in the vast philly underground rap scene. Since 2007 when him hometown anthem "philly love" was released jakk has been considered one of the city's top lyricist. After he released him critically acclaimed "u dont knwo jakk hoste dby kslay frost had a and rs rining on a daily to sign a deal, eventually signing to sony. But like most budding emcees your first deal always doesnt pan out, after two years and no expected release date frost went back heavy on the mixtape grind. jakk has a strogn relationship with philly legend freeqay even relaing a mixtape togheter "best of both beards" so with a allready strong co-sign its only a matter of time jakk blows up to mainstream proportions

NICO THE BEAST

The path to success usually takes years to achieve but with over 14 years in the game allready nico the beast is still striving to become more than just a localally acclaimed emcee. Since 1999 nicos had a steady buzz in the philly hip-hop scene starting off in the gritty rap-battle scene that featured heavywiehgts like )cassidy, freeway, reef the lost cause, e-ness" and more that nico became to dominate, it wasnt intill 9 years later and allready a buzzzworthy artist that his debute mixtape was released the 2008 now philly classic no beast so fierce, that featured collabs with other pgilly heavyqieghts like reef the lost cause and 2 gun ciz. Many heads turned when the awe-inspiring Dinner Is Served mixtape followed, being an even iller example of Nico’s many lanes: endless flows, deep introspection, a never-say-die attitude and just real Hip-Hop flavor. While many writers and “tastemakers” were dripping in “swag juice”, Nico kept it colder than the other side of the pillow, delivering raw uncut reality on a steel plate. Outside of his own projects, he always took the time to show love to those who hollered, providing insane features on a host of releases time and again.
All of this has culminated with the release of his latest album, The Beast Within. After some reorganization within his life, and some personal losses, instead of cowering in a corner, Nico took his pain and frustration to the beast, bringing you his truth, no matter how intense. Whether it’s detailing his anguish over losing his son to detailing the events of a horrific car accident, he attacks each beat the same: head-on with no qualms. In a world where posturing and perpetrating can get you everywhere, it makes sense that a born and bred South Philly Beast represents the essence of what Hip-Hop is built on.
A father of four (three alive and one sadly deceased), and a husband of five years, Nico remains the blue-collar Beast, using the spoils of these MC wars to feed his family. That’s another trait that could be associated with Philly: a never say die attitude, and a loyalty to those in your circle. Nico The Beast is all of these things and more, and invites you to realize that with every bar he spits.

QUILLY MILLZ

One way to gain buzz for yourself is beef, and having beef with one of the most talked about artist in the game now (philly native meek millz) is a good way to get your name heard on a national level. Thats the aproach quilly millz is taking on his long road to success. A once prodigy of meek him and quilly has been at it for years and with the sudden succes for meek quilys trying to ride that to the top. With hard hittign punchines and witty rhymes schemes thats not his only outlet to sucess, but hes deffintly on his way to acheving it.

joey jihad

Another one of meeks nemisis from the philly days someone meek even stole his whole rapid fire speed rap delivery from once he hit mainstream sucess. So if a nationally kow artist is jacking your style you know your on your way to the top. Like the other artist in this article jihads been round 6-7 years with a strong buzz on the local battle seen. expect big things from jihad in the future.

young savage

Nowadays thinking that a 18 year old rapper can make it in the game without gimmicks is a dream. Gone are the days of the yougings repressenting true hip-hop. success storys like 13 year old roxanne shante 18 year old az 16 year old mobb deep dropping classic albums is out of the picture cus in todays societys the younger breed is what is sadily destroying hip-hop. While hes no nas or prodigy 18 year old young savage from west philly is showing that you dont gotta have a gimick to get a buzz. only 18 3 mixtapes on his plate and his videos on youtube avergaing over 750000 views u know this youning is on his way to greatness.Allready this young emccee got strong resources to make it happen his manager jimmy desaint has cowritten a book with rick ross and got connections in the hip-hop game. expect to here this name in the near future ona radio near u

interview with joey mondecca

abyss: You;ve been accumulating alot of buzz your newest mixtape the locker was talked about and hyped months b-4 the release how do you feel on the buzz you been getting and do you thing you have a possitive impact on underground hip-hop as a whole since ur fanbase spreads on a national level?

joey mondecca: ya my team be working real hard to push me and all our other artist out into the world to be seen. I bin blessed and cursed that my music has had some commercial appeal round the world. I work hard to stay on that fine line between who I really am and entertainment. But we just dumped alot into promotion and kept leaking hot tracks to keep the buzz going.I dont think I have a positive impact but I definitly set a example on how to conduct business. We gotta start looking at the over all picture not just the bad bitch in it which is the fame.lol 1st you make music for your hood, then your city and next the world. Its all business expantion. I aint trying to be a mom and pop rapper.lmao

abyss:i feel you on that man your one of the few local rappers with a eye bigger than the local scene, are you trying to make a career out of your music career or is it just a hobby and a side hustle?

joey mondecca:I'll always be involved with music. Probably more the business side. Rapping and performing is definitly fun and Ima keep going hard as long as I keep seeing progress and people keep telling me they like my music. Rappers dont understand that you need a dedicated team behind you to push with you. Musicians aint understanding that these ppl are more important then your producer.lol Only because you can lease and buy so many hot beats online nowadays. Or meet industry producers online. I record everyday. I dont just sit round the studio and fuckoff all day like the teacher aint in the room. I have fun but I get my shit done. Im just so goal orientated. Thats why Im on so many features worldwide. I guess you can say I take this shit seriously but I aint counting on it. Now Im really concentrating on working with B.i da Street Luva to makesure T.O.S keeps growing and pipelinetv.us/ is successful. So count on me being in this game for a while

abyss:Nice to see a rapper who actualy knows the busness side of the rap game most young cats dont know n0thin but the music side its def important to know all sidfs of the game what inspired u to persue rapping

joey mondecca:my fam moved from the bx to atown when I was young and the 1st people I linked up with were DocNice and Big Will. They a couple years older then me so I bin writting since I was like 8. We use to write to breakbeats on vinyl. Those was the days you could buy a single song for $2 and the instrumental was on the other side.lmao They inspired me to be involved in music. Now Im inspired by the ups and downs of life. So I write bout my accomplishments and my downfalls. I'll rap bout anything I got thru. I aint got no complexes!!! Thats why 99% of these rappers lie bout there lifestyle. They not comfortable with who they really are. That inspires me cause Im rapping bout what I do. Im mean come on every rapper got a song bout a shawtey but some these dudes couldnt get pussy in a petshop. They say they hustle but they just hangout in the streets all day. So ta finally answer the question the truth inspirers me. What they say talking bout howd you would do it will never amount ta going thru it.

abyss:I DEFFINTLY feel you on that deffintly in mainstream music 95 percent of all albums ARE EXACTLY THE SAME IN SUBJECT MATTER NO ORIGINALITY at all. hahaha someone remembers the 2 track singles that how most 90's rappers prob started speaking on the FALSEHOODS OF MOST EMCEES DO YOU THINK THAT HAS A DOWNFALL IN HOW HIP-HOP STARTING LOOSING ITS HEART AND SOUL

joey mondecca:I dont think it ruined the game. They just trying to give the people what they think they want. Lets be honest most people are very vain and America has turned us all into consumers. Who's always the most popular people? The person with the hottest shit. I think we sold hiphop to these corporate monsters. They wanted to take hiphop out the hood and make it relate to everyone. What does every use everyday? $Money$ Now the hood kids can dream bout having all these things and the rich kids can live like rappers and pretend like they hustle for all these luxery items. Its the perfect marketing idea. So what did the corporations do? Started cutting rappers 7figure checks. If someone gives me a milli trust they gonna get a big shotout from me.lhahaha Bragging bout money dont bother me. It tends to bother people that dont have money. Im against the fake gangsta shit. Gangsta rap has suffered cause the fake mutherfuckas but I dnt make gangsta rap so we'll leave it at that.

abyss:true everyone a gangsta nowadays u got alot on ur shedule you gunna tour to promtotw the locker at all

joey mondecca: Ya but plans change over night. As of now Ima be on the Left Lane tour which Jake Haze is organizing. Ima be performing at the Urban Lyfe benifit Oct 8th in Bethlehem. Then B.i,me,Sixx Burna and Bobby Crillz is organizing something Im not gonna really talk bout til we get somethings in order but know we gonna have a great show for you. I was dropping my clothing line Demigod this fall but I keep pushing its release back. Lets see how busy I get. Im definitly gonna do alot of traveling. You gotta travel alot if you want your name out there or you just gonna be a mixtape artist stuck in your hometown. I love my hometown but that aint good enough for me

abyss:I feel that thats one thing artist have forgot in this social netork age online is only gunna get you so far gotta get your name out the old fashion way with all the traveling u doing your name prob been heard by industry artist got any high profile collabs in the future

joey mondecca:Ya, Alot of artist hiding behind those computers.Lol ya and Its funny you asked bout doing a feature cause thats all I bin talking bout with my people lately.lol I bin reaching out to alot of producers. They really controlling the game right now. If you impress a industry producer. Aint no telling who you'll end up on a track with. so I reached out to Jahlil beats,Lex Luger and a couple more sickass producers. Here's a tip for the rappers if you kill a industry producers beat. Holla at him cause 9 outta 10 times he gonna listen to it. Even if he think u crap afterwards.lol But on the real thats how I met a couple people. If you cool, easy going and got some talent people ill work with you

abyss:U def got the industry down pat it seams any advice for the younger emcees to follow since these yung cats d0nt thnk past the cash

joey mondecca: I say do it for what ever reason you do it for. But do it dont talk bout doing it and just make sure you got a loyal team around you cause when money start coming in you gonna find out alot of people dont really care like you thought

abyss:true talk anyway you just released the locker you got any other plans for 2011 musically

joey mondecca:Ya Ima drop Burn After Listening before the year is up. I was gonna drop it on 9/11 but we said its to close in date to The Locker and we want time for this joint to get play. So one more mixtape. Then Ima drop the album next year but I already started working on that

abyss:nice nice so your deffintly keeping your name out there thats smart dont wanan rlelease stuff to close and have you rwork overlooked who are some artist producers we can expect on your next project

joey mondecca:My hommie Truth and Bam from Sc, Sco repping the GSC fam outta Sc,Mr420 outta FL and Geno both T.O.S South,Sixxburna outta jersey,Dirty Young Dogg and Rashady repping T.O.S Germany,my hommie So-Lo from Amsterdam,S Da God of T.O.S and more but thats just off the top with it

abyss:you got connections all over the world it looks this is what local artist wanna be doing and cant im bout to rap this interview anything i missed you wanna touch on

joey mondecca:Just Download The Locker on DatPiff.com. Hit me up on pipelinetv.us,follow me on twitter @joeymondeca and keep listening

r.i.p daze dysh

www.reverbnation.com/#!/dazedysh

unless you been under a rock you know theres been a tragedy in the local 610 hip-hop in the death of glock city member daze dysh. gunned down at 230 in the morning outside of a-one markets in allentown ending the life of one of the artist i respected the most in the lehigh valley hip-hop scene. yes i know ive always been a harsh critic of his music and im not saying he was the best emcee but he had more heart and drive then most i know. He was one of the only rappers to take my harsh critism and help evolve his flow. constintly i the studio trying to become a better emmcee, shit he got shot at 2;.30 in the moring recording now that shows dedication to his craft. sadley like most murders of rappers his death IS UNSOLVED. His story has touched many though googling his case papers in dallas texas even reported on this and in days a dedication page had over 2000 likes a show for his benifit was allready intact. Countless people made shirts in his memory and evry 20 minutes someones showing condolenses to him or his brother another lehigh valley heavywieght "infamous swag" who still has one of this years best releases in the 610. one thing i gotta say is daze was one of the few "real" rappers that deffintly didnt lie in his raps. His mother in jail pops murdered he lived a ruff life and no matter how bad life got he didnt get involved in the gang society like most he jumped to the mic as his drug. even his murder he was trying to stop a fight showing he was a good summarition. my condolenses go out to the robinson family and infamous swagg who lost his brother and father to senless violence. In the upcoming week i will be relasing a mixtape dedicated to the fallen young talent in the east coast in dazes memory
