As you know from lonley islands sucess last year white boy Comedians trying to be rappers can spit better lyrics then most emcees now these days. Now comes rob ryan's parody of jay's empire state of mind entitled newark state of mind, not only is this track funny but its kind of sad because even though this is a comicial effort the lyrics are so true and give a vid discription of one of new jerseys grittiest cities. He starts off about how he went from working in uptown brooklyn to getting laid off do to the reciesion to having to resort to newark new jersey. His lyrics deffintly show the sad truth of whats going on in todays society that no one seems to do anything about. spitting lines like "Hookers on the corner, thats one of its specialties Say what up to Shauna, still trickin corners You do it with her, shell tape and sell it like pornoBrotha I be grossed out, I can smell fecesTell by the stench alone, that Im most definitely in, newark" "I used to have a girlfriend, and now she wont visit meCuz just by touching something in Newark you get an STD" "Crack Pipes, Needles, Shards of Bacardi, Garbage so high its like a scene out of Wall-E" These may be funny to listiners who are listing to this song and probally offensive to people living in newark but one thing i can tell you this is a 100% true account of newarks living conditions. so this song is reshing in so many ways its comicial, its truthfull, spitting about real issues, and is lyrical. Deffintly gotta give props for this.
